The carbon tax is one of the economic tools for explicitly regulating greenhouse gas emissions. In Luxembourg, it was proposed by the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC) and implemented by Grand Ducal regulation in 2021. How effective is such a tax in limiting the social and environmental damage caused by greenhouse gas emissions in Luxembourg and worldwide? A research note from the Cellule scientifique of the Chambre of Deputies provides some answers to this question.
