More and more scientists are using generative AI such as ChatGPT for data collection and analysis, but also for general writing tasks. The Rathenau Instituut started a new foresight project to study the effects of AI on science. What are the opportunities? What are the risks? What about quality assurance? We will be looking at how AI is changing the nature of scientific knowledge, what demands the use of AI places on scientific quality assurance, and what skills scientists need in the future, in order to use AI effectively and responsibly.
