Climate migrations
BAS (2020) INFOS 12(278), Climate migrations
An increasing number of people around the world are forced to leave their place of residence due to the deteriorating condition of the natural environment. The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change confirms that climate change is affecting rising sea and ocean levels, extreme weather events, droughts and desertification, which in turn is contributing to an increase in migration. International law does not define climate migrants and does not provide for any special legal protection for them.
