Digital Contact Tracing in Norway
Digital Contact Tracing in Norway
The health authorities’ strategy for opening Norway after covid-19 lockdown is targeted testing, isolation, contact tracing, and quarantine. Contact tracing is essential but challenging. On April 15th, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) launched the app Smittestopp, but the data collection was stopped in mid June due to privacy concerns. On September 28th, the NIPH announced that they will develop a new app, based on the Exposure Notifications System framework developed by Apple and Google.
