Climate Change and the Paris Agreement
Estrada Galindo, L. (2018). INCyTU Note 9 Climate Change and the Paris Agreement
In the Paris Agreement, 195 countries agreed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to keep the global average temperature below 2 ° C. Mexico is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and it is estimated that there are 1,385 municipalities with greater exposure to its effects. Between 2000 and 2012, the average annual impact due to hydrometeorological events was close to 22,000 million pesos. Within the current geopolitical scenario, Mexico's participation in the Paris Agreement not only has environmental and ethical implications but also offers positive economic opportunities.
